Historic Sites of Mendham
Some of the more recognizable features of the area are its historical buildings and lands. Many buildings from the Revolutionary War period are used as homes, businesses, and historically preserved attractions.

Brookside Post Office
Brookside Post Office, originally called Waterville, was established in 1859. The building remains similar today as it was then. |

In 1906, the town installed a fire alarm rail to call volunteers to local emergencies. It is now displayed in the front of Mendham Borough Fire Department. |

Hilltop Church
Built in 1832, Hilltop Presbyterian Church was the first church in Mendham. During the war of independence it served as a hospital for soldiers who developed smallpox. Twelve of these soldiers are buried in the church graveyard |

The Black Horse Inn
Served as a rest stop for travelers as early as 1742. Today it is a restaurant. |

The Phoenix House
Built in 1801. It is listed in the Library of Congress as an historical landmark. Today it is used as a municipal building. |
